My heart breaks to hear that the inevitable that happens to us all happened today...

After 77 years, another great legend gone and passed away. Paquita la Del Barrio has left us, but not without leaving behind a great memory as well as an even greater feeling. With classic hits such as "Rata de Dos Patas" and "Tres Veces Te Engañe," Paquita shared with us the pains that many of us go through when looking for love and finding betrayal after betrayal instead. She has forever been an icon to classic and traditional mexican music that people listen to at parties, when cleaning or drinking, and singing their hearts out.

She taught us how to handle these pains of betrayal, how to stand strong and move on. She taught us that a painful life can still be enjoyed and meaningful.

Through her music, performances and hit biographical series "Paquita la del Barrio", she taught listeners just how much a woman can go through, while continuing to move on and stand strong.

She was a pillar of strength, independence, love and passion for women everywhere, especially in Mexico and Latino América.

Aside from her music, Paquita was also a mother and a great cook. A beautiful icon whose unique look and strong vocals won over the heart’s and respect of many mexicans and latinos everywhere. She triumphed over hate and showed Mexico that you can be a strong woman, different from what the time’s ask for in women and still make your way up and be successful (without a man).

Her music showed women they can be more than just a partner to a man and how much worth it of a life it can be. In a very patriarchal world full of “machismo” a woman doesn’t need a man, and these men are not as great as they seem. She confidently and boldly called out men that disrespect women as scum of the Earth and how to walk away from them.

I’ll never forget just how confident and strong Paquita made women everywhere feel.

She was a spectacle to see on stage. Her story was an inspirational and heartfelt one for the ages with music that anyone can enjoy. God bless you, may you rest in heaven legend and may your music continue to touch peaople's lives across generations.
